schème and schème
II -
choreographic installations
schème:
(Gk Skhema, figure) Overall structure of a process.
PSYCHOL. Underlying mental structure. Sensorimotor cognitive scheme.
PHILOS. A transcendental scheme: in Kantian philosophy, an intermediary
representation between the concept and the perception data."
(Larousse Dictionary, 2001)
The choreographic installations schème
and schème II present
five body-language and media-based sequences who put forward
five distinct visions of time and space. The viewer moves into a
stark, open space, the site of the performance, where the encounter
and interaction between the body and the new media forms an intelligent
space. The fruit of a rigorous process, schème sets the body
into real and virtual situations, projecting it into multidimensional
spaces.
schème is an ongoing research and development process, where
the principal subject of experimentation is the interactive manipulation
of video, live images, sound and 3 D environments, by dance/performance.
The two performers control and generate this environment, and their
movement is translated via sensors into MIDI data. These sensors
are mounted on their arms, legs and on the head. Two prototypes
of a wireless sensor box, three video cameras, three computers two
moving projectors and one remote controlled shutter system are forming
with the performance an expressive system.
A matrix MAX software developed in MAX/MSP, enables multiple control
parameter mapping and is managing the data flow.
